Potential Writing Gig Site: What is Presto Media?
Presto Media is a site that brings in freelance writers to write articles and blogs for their clients. This potential gig site can be compared to Scripted, Verblio and Textbroker in how it works overall, but there are some differences. Here’s what Presto Media says in their ads:
Presto Media is a digital agency that provides content to digital publications. We manage the client relationship and provide editorial support to writers.
All you have to do is write good articles based on the topics we give you!
Assignments include a ton of editorial direction and help from our staff. Most require at least one photo. Some opportunities offer a byline, others are ghostwriting. Pay per article is between $15 and $100, depending on the length and requirements.
Applicants will be required to pass an English competency test. You will have two attempts. If you fail both, you will have an opportunity to complete the application anyway, though the odds of being hired will be lower.
At the end of the test, please provide us with portfolio links or clips if you have them, and a paragraph cover letter wherein you describe your experience and tell us the TOP 3 categories you write in (e.g., celebrity, DIY, law, technology, etc.). APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT COMPLETE THIS STEP WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
If selected, you will receive an onboarding link with training materials, paperwork, and a quiz. Once everything is complete, you will be granted access to our platform where you will be able to claim assignments.

Whatever your background, if your writing is good and you can adapt to our style, we’ll be happy to have you.
We’ll try to respond to every applicant as soon as we’re able. Make sure you whitelist @presto.media in your email client, or check your spam folder for onboarding emails if accepted. You can also email hiring@presto.media to check in on the status of your application.
Okay, sounds pretty decent. They pay between $15 to $100 an article. I imagine the $15 articles are around 300 words while the $100 articles are more in the thousands. It’s not great pay but if you’re just starting out or you’re really fast, you may find the site worth your while since the website says you can write as much as you like. So there isn’t a cap on what you can make. Also, assignment earnings are paid out every 1st and 15th of the month.
From the reviews online, like on Glassdoor, some people love the site and some hate it. There’s no harm in giving it a try if you’re curious. Here’s the signup form for Presto Media.
