We’re pushing our way through 2017, and most of us are wondering where the first couple of months have gone. You made lots of resolutions eight weeks ago, but you probably haven’t put them into practice.
Still, that doesn’t mean you have to give up and wait another ten months to repeat the process. You can still turn this year around and improve your life in many different ways.
Just for fun, I wrote this post to offer some suggestions and advice. Regardless of your situation, there should be something for everyone on this page. At the end of the day, the process couldn’t be any simpler. You just have to spend more time doing the things you love, and less time concentrating on the issues that cause you stress. That is how you will lift your mood and feel content in your life.
Try to travel more often
Travel is one of the best ways to enrich your life and find new experiences. If you select the right destinations, you could learn a lot about other cultures, too. I love to travel.
So, now is the best time to start considering your options for this year. Some of the most popular locations for life-changing experiences include China, Africa and India to name but a few.
Try watching some documentaries online to see which places interest you most.
The best thing about exotic destinations is that you can often save a lot of money during your trip. While the flights can become expensive, accommodation and food prices are usually low. So, don’t start thinking you need tens of thousands of dollars in the bank to make it happen. You can always travel on a shoestring budget if you’re smart.
Move to a new city
Moving to a new city is a great way to mix things up. You’ve probably lived in the same area for quite a while, and so you could do with a change of scenery. You don’t even have to move that far away from home if you want to stay connected. Putting yourself in an unfamiliar place can seem exciting. You will also make lots of new friends and see the world from a slightly different perspective.
If you plan on borrowing to make the move, make sure you always read the small print when borrowing online to ensure you can meet the repayment schedule.
Read in your spare time
I am a writer, so it’s no big surprise that I’m suggestion you need to read more. There are three reasons you need to start reading more in your free time.
First, it helps you relax and forget about the stresses of your working day.
Second, reading new books could help to inspire you and encourage you to think of new ideas. Some of them could help to change your life for the better.
Lastly, reading makes you more intelligent. Contrary to popular belief, your education doesn’t have to stop the moment you leave school. You should always try to learn as much as possible at every opportunity. Books will help you to do that from the comfort of your home in your spare time.
If you’re working in a dead-end job with no prospects, you should think about making a change. You could even start a new business. I moved from working for others to being my own boss and you can, too.
To get started, brainstorm some business ideas and research what it would take to get it started.
Meet a life partner
Finding someone special to spend your life with is always a wise move. Being in love will remove depression from your life and make you feel excited to be alive. You just need to find the right person. Easier said than done, right?
Thankfully, that process is easier than ever before thanks to technology. While you might not like the idea of meeting someone online, it’s a start. So, maybe you should create an account with a top dating website and see how you get on? You’ll be surprised by the number of friendly people using those sites who are in the same boat as you. Who knows? Within a week or so you might have your first date. If nothing else, at least it will get you out of the house.
Care for a child
Ha! I don’t take this one lightly, for sure. If you’re already thinking about becoming a parent, though, why not? Don’t make the mistake of trying to wait for the perfect time because it will never come. There will always be something that will seem off. I believe that you should ensure you have a stable financial situation before considering having a baby, but baring that, sometimes you just have to jump into an adventure. (And trust me, parenting is a huge adventure!)
If you don’t think the world needs more humans, why not give a child that is already here a loving home through adoption? There are children in your area that need a forever home.
If having your own child isn’t in the cards, sponsoring a foster child or becoming a child advocate is a great way to give a little of yourself to make someone else’s life better. Helping others is always a great to feel fulfilled.
Those six ideas should help you to turn things around and improve your life this year. Whatever happens, I sincerely hope you feel fulfilled by the time we’re ready to move into 2018. Just remember that you are in control of your happiness, and you’re the only one who can make real improvements. You just need to set your heart on something and keep moving forwards until you achieve your goal.
